Coin auctions

Coins are what the house was built on. Between the auction rooms and our sister shop at the same address, our people have catalogued Australian coinage for more than fifty years, and wrote the standard reference for the pre-decimal series.

What comes up

Australian pre-decimal from 1910, decimal issues and error coins, Sydney Mint and branch-mint gold, proof and mint sets, world and ancient coins, and tokens. NGC- and PCGS-graded coins are catalogued with their certification numbers.

Grading

Grade is most of the price on a coin, so we do not inflate it. Slabbed coins are listed at the grade on the holder. Raw coins are graded conservatively against the benchmark series, and anything cleaned, holed or tooled is described as such.

Selling coins

Single rarities, accumulations, and whole collections built over a lifetime. Valuations are free. If you would rather sell outright today than wait for a sale to close, Strand Coins at the same address buys over the counter.

The standard reference for Australian pre-decimal coins from 1910 to 1964, written and illustrated by the same people who catalogue our auction. It lists all recognised types, varieties and grades, with retail price guidance. Open the catalogue
